Nigeria is the very first country to break bad and unheard records. The kind of story we hear sometimes baffles me and as surprising as it is, we are still being take for granted and yet we are still showing support to those who do not value our very existence.
Few months ago, we heard how a snake was accused to swallowing over N60million from jamb office. Later we heard that monkeys also came for their share; the monkeys were accused of stealing similar amount or a bit higher.
I must say, it's only in this country that things like this can happen.
I am not really surprised though, because we have seen and heard more. So recently about 30 senators swapped party after enjoying the benefit of the ruling party, I won't be surprised that some of them would. Want to contest for one position or the other under the umbrella party since the sanitation party is no longer prefered in the country.
Other countries watch and laugh at our stupidity, especially how unreasonable the Nigerian youths are! We sit and watch some old and supposed to have retired men use us as they want, they use us to achieve their selfish desires and after getting what they want with us they throw us aways like trash and then start calling us names publicly; they call us names like "LAZY Nigerian Youth", "Corrupt Nigeria Youths and so on.
It's funny to know that these same people believe they know how to still get these same youths to vote for them over again and it always seem to work. We fight ourselves, kill each other for them and all they do is shake hands with themselves and share the nation's treasures. You see, for Nigeria to get better, we need to have a change of thoughts, they way we do things, our sense of reasoning and more because these corrupt leaders who tend to call other citizens corrupt are still the ones some of us are planing to vote for.
I applied for a job at one of the local banks in the country some years back and when we were called for their test, an essay question I saw there made me realize we all know what is happening and still allow it to happen, probably due to ignorance. The questions says, "DO YOU THINK NIGERIA IS MOVING FORWARD OR BACKWARD"? I took my time to think about this topic and after a thorough digesting of the topic, I came to the conclusion that Nigeria is, as a matter of fact, stagnant. Some would say "HOW?" take your time to consider how far we have come. As price of commodities increases in the market, the values of these commodities tend to always reduce.
Majorly, my reason for saying we have been stagnant is the fact that we have not gotten a new set of government for a long time now, for over 20 years the same set of politicians have paraded themselves from one party to another, but their system of ruling never change. Until a new set of leaders emerge, Nigeria would continue to remain where we are. How possible can it be for new leaders to emerge and win? This is always the question; but the thing here is that we don't believe it is possible. I believe if we all get our voters card and come out massively to vote out these leaders that are destroying the future of our youths.
Former president Goodluck Ebere Jonathan made a comment while in power, during one of his campaign for a second term he said their generation has failed us and he wants the youths to now rise up to take power from their generation and do the job that they didn't do well.
Why are we still sitting and keeping quiet, where are the able youths of this nation? If it's not now, when would it be? 2019 is fast approaching, campaign are already ongoing. Let's get our permanent voters card now and enforce who we want as our president.
The time is now!
