After voting in his hometown, Daura yesterday, some journalists walked up to president Bihari and were asking him so many questions which he answered with a smiling face but there was one he didn't want to answer, the same one that has been lingering for a while now. The journalist asked Mr. President if he would congratulate the winner if he loses the election; Mr president ignored this questions twice right there until when it could no longer be ignored, but do you know what he said? He smiled ironically and said, "Yes I will contgratulate myself because I am going to win". Like seriously?
This same question was thrown at him during his last interview and his response was similar to what he told these journalists that approached him after he was done voting. He clearly told them that there was no way he could lose the election to another party. Now this has got me thinking... whose inheritance is the presidential seat? Imagine the confidence! Does he even have any idea what Nigerians have been through since the past three years?Although, Jagaban has promised Nigerians that they would surrender if they lose the election but does he really mean this? or is he speaking just saying it?
Well, one thing is certain, they know that Nigerians are tired of their leadership, they know that with a very good opposition, PDP would likely come back to power. PDP on the other hand that has been in power for 16 years have their tactics for winning elections regardless of the oppositions. Despite having so many misunderstandings among themselves, they know how to make things work in their favour.
Do you know that APC with the help of some former PDP members tried to use the old tactics that PDP normally use to win elections but unfortunately for the party, that trick was just one among many others. PDP is a very strong party with wonderful strategists who knows exactly how to make things work. That trick that APC stole from PDP was sharing of money and other items during campaign. The party went round various market areas sharing money to market women. In some areas they shared N5,000 while in other areas they shared N10,000. They didn't want it to appear as if they are trying to buy the market women's votes, so they have the process a name which is, "TraderMoni" There was a time when this would have worked perfectly for them but not in this era.
Nigerians are not happy with PMB and the ruling party knows this which was why they put a lot of plans on ground to see that they will the election one more time. So many tribes are not happy with the president including some of his fellow Fulani herdsmen. A lot of people that supported his during the 2015 general elections were totally disappointed with his leadership and for this reason a large number of them have vowed to ensure they or members of their families would not vote for him anymore. A lot of people were disappointed, especially the Igbo clan which was why they all came out massively to vote but unfortunately, a lot of their votes will not count due to the violence and burning of ballot boxes done by the tugs who attacked their various polling stations. A lot of them were ready to die to protect their votes.
So far, the election results are still yet to come and may not come out until the rescheduled elections are done within the locations that people were disenfranchised as well as other locations that were attacked. The Independent National Electoral Commission, on Saturday, said that it would reschedule elections in some parts of Rivers, Anambra and Lagos States where there were cases of violence and ballot box snatching. The commission also acknowledged the challenges of smart card readers, saying they have been resolved.
So, let's sit tight and watch as it goes... but so far so good, all news reaching me shows that PDP is currently on the leading angle and all the rescheduled areas are also PDP catchment areas. So I say there's still a lot of hope. It's never over until is it indeed over.
